Many law enforcement departments have utilized recordings as a means to protect themselves against false allegations of coercive interrogations and mistreatment of suspects. Many states have now mandated “required” recordings for suspect interviews and there has been an increase of law enforcement agencies adopting recording as a standard for suspect interviews.
